Travis Rothe

Travis is a visual designer, creative director, communication strategist, and human-centered design researcher.

He studied Graphic Design and French at Northern Kentucky University, earned a BFA in Visual Communications from The Illinois Institute of Art–Chicago, and was awarded an MDM (Master of Design Methods) from the Institute of Design at Illinois Institute of Technology. Travis’s master’s research focused on the design of public spaces including airport dining systems and public library user experience.

Travis has worked as a creative director, marketing strategist, and visual designer in various industries and with a variety of clients including: performing arts organizations, museums and foundations, publishing, media, political campaigns, and higher education.

Travis has taught design communication courses at Illinois Institute of Technology, The Illinois Institute of Art, and the Chicago High School for the Arts. As an educator, he encourages communication students to consider design not only as a means for communicating the now, but also as a tool for introducing the new.

Travis is the recipient of numerous awards for design excellence in magazine design, branding, and marketing communications, including an AZBEE award for best magazine redesign.
